This cell, developed
along with the Istituto Nazionale di Ottica Applicata Istituto
Nazionale di Ottica Applicata (Florence, Italy), is designed
to perform in hostile environments (hot gasses, high temperature
steam, acidic environment, etc.
Entirely built in AISI 316 stainless steel and Pyrex, this
cell’s characteristics allow a quick and easy mirror
substitution, operating directly on the measuring site and
with no need of realignment. The mirrors, made of gilded BK7,
can be heated up.
The picture shows two twin cells, without their Pyrex tube.
One cell operates on the measurement site; the other is used
to align the mirror couple. Once aligned, the mirrors are
transported on the measurement site to replace a couple of
dirty mirrors.
Thanks to this procedure, the replacement can be operated
quickly, with no need of realigning the experimental apparatus,
and by staff without any specific training in optics.
