The energy problem has reached a critical point at world-wide level. The energetic model based on the exploitation of fossil fuel shows environmental and economic limits and must change ignificantly in the next few years. Among all the possibilities the exploitation of renewable energies seems the most reasonable solution. SIT has invested years of research in this direction choosing two guidelines:
- the energy must be distributed
- the systems must be cheap, modular and scalable
These are some of the solutions analyzed, patented and realized by SIT.
SIT has carried out studies for the realization of a solar collector of high efficiency and low cost for the heating of great volumes of water for industrial use. One of the most important applications is the desalinization.
SIT projects are based on well-established engineering studies, already patented.
The great eolic systems have relatively high efficiency but also a great environmental impact and vulnerability to extreme weather events. The microeolic systems till now are less efficient and more expensive.
SIT proposes two solutions that move in the direction of a distributed low cost system:
ELDER, which uses the distributive net of the lighting system as logistic support for the microeolic vertical axis wind turbine.
Hammurabi, which takes advantage of the idea of the old Persian windmills in order to construct fixed and safe structures on the flat roofs of condominiums.
