The energy problem has reached a critical point at world-wide level. The energetic model based on the exploitation of fossil fuel shows environmental and economic limits and must change ignificantly in the next few years. Among all the possibilities the exploitation of renewable energies seems the most reasonable solution. SIT has invested years of research in this direction choosing two guidelines:
- the energy must be distributed
- the systems must be cheap, modular and scalable
These are some of the solutions analyzed, patented and realized by SIT. 
Lasers are widely used in devices for diagnostic and measurement. SIT has been active in this field for more than 20 years and, besides having a production line of sensors for gas measurement, it carries out, in collaboration with several industrial companies, a continuous activity of research & development of new measuring devices

The miniaturization of electronics and mechanics allows extremely useful diagnostic and control systems to be developed in the medical field, the environment and industry.
SIT has developed electronic control cards, numerical methods for accelerometers data analysis, software for distributed control systems with important applications in domotic, energetic, medical and sport field.
